Captain Le Tellier established Lodge Le Progres de l’Oceanie under the auspices of the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of the Supreme Council of France, within the store of Jules Dudoit’s. At that time, Jules Dudoit served as the French Consul in Honolulu, Hawaii, while Le Tellier, the Captain of the French Whaler “Ajax,” arrived in Honolulu to have major repair work done on his vessel.
THE WORLD’S OLDEST & LARGEST FRATERNITY
Brotherly Love, Relief & Truth
Hawaii’s rich and royal history is inextricably linked to Freemasonry. Lodge Le Progres de l’Oceanie, the first Masonic Lodge chartered in Honolulu, continues to thrive as a hub for men of high moral and ethical standards to unite in fellowship and deepen their Masonic knowledge.
Originally formed in 1841 under dispensation from the AASR Supreme Council of France, Lodge Le Progres de l’Oceanie was the first Masonic lodge established in the Hawaiian Islands.
